I think that it would be a good race. but to better test their limits get them on the gt courses

and the r34 would win, only because it has stiffer suspension and 200kg advantage over the gto ... that's not to say the r34 is light
they're both as heavy as a brick compared with ... anything really

Well from what I found, I think the 3000GT has been unfairly prejudged in this thread. The mits has 44 more horses and weighs just 65lbs more than the R34. The model years I compared were both 1999.

i am with rob porsche...i think the 3000gt has been unfairly predjudiced in this thread as well. but however i too am giving the nod to the r34 just because of its newer technology (both cars are turbo AWD AWS vehicles but the ones on the skyline are much more advanced). i think with the extra grunt the 3000gt would have over the skyline it would keep up a lot better than most of you guys are giving it credit for tho.

You guys answer as if there was no competition whatsoever.

3000GT VR-4 = 3810lbs - 320hp - 315lbs torque = 0.083bhp/lbs
R34 = 3672lbs - 280hp - 289lbs torque = 0.076bhp/lbs

I do actually believe that the R34 would win, but it pisses me off how everybody just jumps to conclusions. I'll search for track times once I get home.

EDIT: The 3000GT is the one with the better power-to-weight ratio, I gave 0.083 to the Skyline by mistake.

Isn't the 3000GT FWD and the Skyline is AWD?

Finally got around to doing it, the GTR won by a significant margin. Both were beaten by a Subaru Impreza STi by an even bigger margain.
