I've always considered Vipers and Corvettes to be high-performance sports cars. "Muscle car" is usually described as a four-seater.
And muscle cars are usually moderately priced- Vipers are much more expensive than a typical muscle car.

I also like a car that is fun and pleasing to look at. I might as well buy a bar of soap (same "styling") than own a Toy(ota).

I did think of that. One reason why black muscle cars would be a last choice for me is because many of them didn't have a/c. And a black car (especially with a black interior) can get very hot without a/c.

In the San Fernando Valley, yes, in Toronto, no.

Toyotas have the styling of soap yes, I am just egging you on.

Anyways, British Racing Green is another solid colour but I have already made my choices.

Yes, in a cooler climate- black muscle muscle cars much less of a problem!

The new ones look more like an egg than a bar of soap. Maybe it's an "advancement of styling?"

But you can't drive them in the winter and it is cold.

At least Honda can make somewhat interesting cars - this by no means meeans that I approve of current American car design - they (except like the reborn muscle cars) are just (or slightly less) as crap or in the case of Pontiac, far worse.

Yeah, too late. You already answered the poll.

Well, they all had heaters (except the 11-second L-88 Corvette). But you're right... a lot of owners in the northeast U.S. store them during the winter months.

I am a fan of Corvettes with 7-odd litre engines in them. What exactly did they run on the quarter mile?

The fastest were the rare '69 L-88 'Vettes. The had over 500 horsepower (the exact figure was not advertised or it would scare away insurance companies). They ran in the 11s for the 1/4 mile.

    A '66 427/425 hp 'Vette, as tested by Car & Driver, did a 12.8 sec @ 112 mph 1/4 mile.
    Motor Trend tested a '67 427 'Vette which did 5.5 secs to 60 mph and a 13.8 1/4 mile.
    And Car Life recorded a 13.48 sec @ 109 mph 1/4 mile with a '68 427.

I drove my '68 Mustang sans a/c in the San Francisco Bay Area for three years with a black vinyl interior. Worked just fine, and if I ever moved back to California, I wouldn't have any particular need for a/c, either...

Hit that definition right on the nose! I regard both as sportscars brought up with muscle car influence - kind of how raising a daughter with 7 boys might make her a tomboy, but she'd still be a girl!

Air-con has no place in classic cars anyways. It must have been some kind of hot in that 'stang in the summer I bet!

Well, the average daily maximum temperature in July where I live is about 93 degrees. A/c does help a lot and I'm glad it is in working condition on all three of my cars.

Still, if I ever bought the muscle car I like best ('69 Dodge Coronet R/T 440-Magnum) and the one I was looking at didn't have a/c, I would still buy it!

No, I've been to that site but only a few times.
My definition is based on personal analysis and what I've read in '60s car magazines (also the '80s/'90s muscle cars mags).

If you want a japanese car with modern and different styling, buy a Honda. Especially the new Civic. (But you don't get the hatch, do you?)
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
