    Filming James Dean's Car

Do you own or know anybody who owns an original Porsche Spyder? We are making a documentary for National Geographic about James Dean and really need to film an original Spyder 550. We’ve already had a great response for a replica Spyder but we’re wondering whether anybody out there might be able to help us out with an original? We only need it for a few shots and it won’t be driven at high speeds – we just need to see it run and most importantly, here that incredible engine purr. If anyone can help me out then please get in touch as we are filming in various locations across America in April.

    Thanks for all your help

I think this is a long shot but try phoning Kitcar makers who build replica 550 Spyders. They have to get the body shape from somewhere, some may have used an original and know the contact details of the original owner. The only people I know who do 550 replicas are Banham but im sure there are far more. Also, have you tried contacting Porsche themselves? They might have one in their historic collection, i would be surprised if they hadnt infact. But anyway, good luck with your search .. sorry i couldnt be of much help.

You NEED an original? I've seen kits and originals-kits can easily be passed as originals....costing a tiny fraction of the other's price.
