The Chevrolet SSR Bonneville Push Truck, which will be used as a push truck for the 2004 Bonneville Salt Flat Speed Record, will make its public debut at the 2004 Hot Rod Power Tour.

The truck was developed by GM Performance in collaboration with the SoCal Speed Shop. A trademark SoCal paint scheme covers the exterior of the SSR in bold red and white colors with composite rocker extensions.

Under the louver hood-mounted air inlet sits a developmental GM Powertrain, Gen IV 6.0-liter aluminum V-8 mated to a six-speed manual transmission. MagnaFlow provides the cat-back exhaust system equipped with aluminum exhaust tips. The SoCal Muroc aluminum alloy wheels are 19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear. The custom interior features special edition graphics and a brushed aluminum belt line trim.

    Features list:

"Hot rod style" outside rear view mirrors
Developmental Gen IV 6.0-liter aluminum V-8 engine (estimated 390 hp, 405 lb-ft torque)
    Six-speed Tremac manual transmission
    Custom engine dress
    Hood-mounted engine air inlet
Gull wing tonneau cover allowing access to safety and racing equipment
    Composite rocker extensions
    Louvered hood
    Louvered aluminum rear roll pan
MagnaFlow cat-back exhaust system with aluminum exhaust tips
    Brushed aluminum belt line trim
Budnik, SoCal Muroc aluminum alloy wheels (19" front, 20" rear)
    Removable salt flat push bar
Custom interior featuring special edition graphics

Good news...sorta. Word has it that the LS2 and T56 6-speed are going to be available in thoe 05 SSR. I haven't heard any word yet on performance, but that bump in power from 300-390 and the optional 6-speed would have to make it a bit quicker, right?
