Gas mileage.

I stopped today to fill the tank on the Golf. I put in about 12.5 gallons, at $2.12 a gallon. $26.50. I always reset my trip meter after I fill up so I have a more accurate idea of how much gas I have in the tank (crazy Germans, my gas needle is possessed). It was at 327.7 miles.

So based on 330miles (just for the sake of even numbers), and 12.5 gallons (I don't remember the exact thousandths), that works out to 26.4 miles/gallon. Now that's mixed city, highway, and beating the hell out of it on a spirited mountain cruise. Which I think is pretty good for a car rated at 25/29. Especially given how I drive (balls to the wall most of the time).

Now, at $2.12 a gallon, that 26.4 mpg works out to about $.08/mile.

So what's your fuel economy look like? Better than mine? Worse?

A LOT WORSE.

Usually around 15 mpg with the truck, even less if I go balls to the wall. It's got a 20 gallon tank, but there is a 7 gallon reserve(wtf, came from the factory that way). Usually get around 200 miles before it hits empty.

I usually get ~300 miles on about 26 gallons, which works out to 11.5 mpg and at $2.15 for midgrade makes it $.19 /mile. So everyone can stop complaining. Now

Well, fuel costs about $7.80/gallon in south England and I get about 34 miles/gallon. Saving grace is that our gallon is slightly bigger - 4.55 litres.

A friend has just ordered a Porsche 911 GT3 - I am waiting with great anticipation to see how many gallons per mile he uses

My mom has a TDI Beetle, and gets arond 50mpg. It's quiet the effiecient car, but on the environment side, I don't know, I don't think the big black cloud is healthy that the car leaves behind after the pedal to the metal.

All of my Cadillacs ('69 Fleetwood Brougham, '70 Sedan de Ville and '76 limo) get 9-13 mpg.
Luckily, they are all driven less than 4,000 miles/year (no long commutes).
The '66 V-8 Dart I used to own got 14-18 mpg.

on average, 37.6 mpg, (45.2 imperial mpg). Taking a bit more (but never below 30 mpg) on spirited high way trips (doing around 100-110 mph), but significantly less (over 50 mpg) when sticking to our speed limits.

With a current price of one euro per liter, this boils down to 8.1 $cents per km. or about 12.5 cents per mile.

BMW 328i does around two weeks to a tank, for my mother, thats about 450Km for a 50 Litre tank.

Dad's Jeep Cherokee, 25Km commute there, 25Km Back, crap traffic, about 1 1/2 weeks, so 300km/Tank?
