Could You Advise On Parts, Equipment Needed.

You need a 1966 Chevrolet truck and a Northstar engine first, then work up from there I think.

Exactly, and if it doesn't fit, hack a bit out of the engine bay. Then bodge it all together, thats what i would do.

Isn't the Northstar a transverse motor?

You'll need the motor, ECU or standalone management, a transmission (which if the Northstar motor is transverse, its tranny won't help your RWD intentions.), custom axels, custom motor and tranny mounts. You'll have to find a way to wire up a speedometer and tach if you want it to be street legal.

The Northstar is used in the XLR in a RWD configuration, but would be much rarer than a FWD one; I'm pretty sure there are major differences between the two, such as water pump placement etc.

maybe im miss judging you from how you phrased the question (and the fact that this is your first post and youll probably never even come to UCP or the forums again )but it seems like you havent done this before or have much experience. i dont mean any offence. but this isnt something that can be explained with specific steps or specific parts list. watch any of those hot-rod shows and youll see how much custom work and fabrication goes into this type of install. if you dant have any experience, get a job pulling parts or cleaning for a mechanic.

in the end itll probably cost as much as an XLR!

As few said above this post, if you don't have the know-how, then don't do it. It'll be a really expensive mistake in the long-run.
