Most stupid political act of the year ?

"Under strong pressure from the automobile industry, the House and Senate rejected higher efficiency standards. Lawmakers argued that doing so would require redesigns that would make vehicles unsafe and result in a loss of manufacturing jobs — arguments sharply disputed by advocates of fuel efficiency."

WTF ?

So cars around the world are less safe ?

Or is it really all about those "jobs" because the industry again has lost the plot wrt to world-cars and doesnt' ahve the ability to compete on a level playign field again

Dont' you love how some capitilism can actually destroy democracy

I'd love for anyone to tell me how more fuel-efficient makes a vehicle unsafe ???

How, or why - since this doesn't help the car industry?

If the Buggy Whip Lobby gave as much money to congressmen as the petroleum lobby does, we'd all be required to ride horses.

Mabye they think that they will have to spend more money making the cars more fuel efficient/reasearch ing better fuels and that will mean they have less money to spend on safety(just a thought)

That changes the PRICE of a vehicle.

it isn't a communist controlled price, it's market driven OR is it
