    Skoda Octavia Mk2 (1Z) vRS 2005-2012

    FIRST OFFICIAL PICTURES OF FASTEST EVER SKODA

    The fastest and most powerful production vehicle ever made by Škoda is one step closer to our shores. Due to arrive at the end of the year, the Škoda Octavia vRS hatch has a 0-62mph of just 7.3 seconds and maximum speed of 149mph. Torque from the 2.0 TFSI 200bhp turbo direct injection engine is an impressive 280Nm at 1800 to 5000 rpm.

    Available in hatch and estate versions, the estate can achieve 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 148mph.
    The new Škoda Octavia vRS will make its first world public appearance at this year’s International Motor Show in Frankfurt (IAA) on 12th September.
    Following in the cult footsteps of the current Octavia vRS, this new vRS will be offered in a limited range of colours, comprised of a new colour, Race Blue metallic, Sprint Yellow, Corrida Red, Diamond Silver metallic and Black Magic pearl effect.
    The first official photos of Škoda’s hottest road car yet are enclosed.

    Does it remind anyone of the Passat W8? Those headlights looks very familiar...

    Still, I like it, but why the heck do they never put mesh where there should be mesh- it's always stupid ordinary grilles. Grrrr.

    It is a passat. VW own Skoda, therefore they get a passat and change the badge, literally. So this is more or less a Passat W8, or close enough. And for less money.

    Not excactly.
    Octavia shares a platform with VW Golf, Audi A3, Seat Leon etc.
    Passat equal in Skoda line-up is Superb

    And the Superb has an extra 15cm in the wheelbase... absolutely huge!

    First of all, you mention Passat W8. Naturally I assumed that you were talking about old Passat (B5), since there is no W8 option on current Passat (B6).

    IIRC it only shares COMPONENTS as part of VWs new "click technology" matrix.

    So the front suspension and mounts and engine/box options are common.
    I don't think there is much in the chassis/body that is beyond that.
