Definitely Beatles. I was 12 years old when they got big and people today can't even imagine how huge they were. Radio stations would play "I Want to Hold Your Hand" over and over and over again and nobody complained. And it wasn't the carefully-orchestrated media hype like today -- people were really excited about it. I can still remember when they were on Ed Sullivan. My dad hated them, my mom and I loved them.
Elvis was big, too, of course, but he was about a decade before me and so his stuff always seemed old and stale to me.

Ive always been a little bit surprised its always one or the other, and most of the time people love one but hate the other. I mean, the beatles were even fans of elvis. I also think that alot of people buy to much into the bealtes clean cut image and even if they may like the later work of the beatles they dont really check any of it out b/c the dont like the early work. And actually that brings up another thing. Early beatles or later beatles? That is a pretty big difference for one band.
