Disable air bags

I for one don't care about safety. Is there a way to disable air bags on a car completely?

I heard that if the air bags deploy, especially the one in the steering wheel, the car is not drivable anymore and it's also very expensive to fix. Is that true?

yes it's possible to disable? If so how? Is there a switch for it? A wire to cut? Something?

None really except repair costs if I crash the car.

I don't want it to go off in a crash that causes only cosmetic damage to the car but I still cant drive the car because the air bag blew up the steering wheel. I'll trade safety for money any day because safety is not important to me.

If someone offered me a car that is reliable and economical with no crumple zones and no air bags for a cheaper price, I'll buy it.

The impact required to detonate the airbag will no doubt be enough to generate some other damage I would think.
I would suggest that the contents of your skull may cause some "cosmetic" damage to the inside of your car as well.
Insurance takes of the repair costs so I suppose it doesnt matter too much whether they pay to have the blood and brains (?) scraped off your dash and steering wheel or if they have to vacuum the dust and replace the airbag componenets.
Anyone seen the list for the 2005 Darwin awards lying anywhere around.

Removing your airbags will mean that:

Your car does not meet MoT requirements (if such a thing exists in the country where you live)
Your insurance company will take the opportunity NOT to pay you (or your remaining next of kin) any compensation for incurred damage

Why don't we just call this the suicide thread? Words cannot describe what a complete ****ing tool you are. That is all.

exactly! why are you saying so many times that you dont care about saftey?

anyway...

any crash in which the air bags go off should not be one where the car is in good enough shape to drive off. if they go off for anything less you could probably sue the manufacturer.

the saftey devices are designed as a system. in a car with bags you cant rely only on the seatbelt, etc.

yes it is scary when airbags go off, i have been a passenger in such a case. they are loud and fill the car with smoke. but they are better than having a dent in your forehead from the steering wheel.

if youre gonna remove them, why dont you just wait until you crash? because youre either gonna have to pay to remove them now or pay to fix them then. then you can tell if you like them or not.

The airbags are indeed meant together with the seatbelts to slow your body down.If you remove the airbags the system won't work properly. You will have a severe (head)ache and are very likely to have more injury. The airbag only goes off, if the force of impact detected is more as X. X is a value determined by the manufacturer, from which value you are likely to be trown violently forward.the seatbelts slow your body down, but not your head. In which case, you might have a scull base fracture --> death. Same thing as Dale earnhardt had.His head was literally ripped from his neck !! In most normal crashes the frces are much lower, but still dangerous.

If you are NOT suicidal leave them on. If you are, well, there is nothing i cn do too stop you.just find a tree please, not someone else.

At the risk of a repost, a cool new trend offered by certain US custom shops is they remove the steering-wheel mounted airbag .. and replace it with a TV
