    Dacia Nova/SupeRNova (523/524) 1995-2003

    Dacia Nova

Dacia Nova was the first Dacia model designed by the Romanian engineers, taking a very long time to complete. This is the reason for the car looking slightly outdated when it exited the factory's gates for the first time, in 1995. The next year the more popular facelifted version was introduced.

Although an in-house design, started in 1983, the first generation Nova closely resembled the Renault 11 and the Peugeot 309, especially from a side and the rear. The only part of the car of Renault origin was its Cléon OHV engines. Whilst the styling is similar to the Peugeot 309, there is no common part between the two models.

The car was a small supermini hatchback, with front-wheel-drive, 5-doors and 5 seats. The newest engine appeared in 1998 and was called the GTi. It was the GT engine that was upgraded with a Bosch MonoMotronic injection, thus reducing the GT's high consumption which was originally equipped with a two barrel carburator.

    Dacia SupeRNova

A small front wheel drive liftback car, Dacia SupeRNova was produced from 2000 to 2003, being the first car released after signing the contract with Renault. The SupeRNova is in fact a Dacia Nova which has been improved by adding a Renault injection engine and gearbox.

The Renault Clio engine is an inline-four, joined to a manual five-speed hydraulic gearbox. It has also been equipped with air conditioning, aluminium wheels and cassette player. The car's original cost was set for the most equipped version to €5800. The car was sold in five different versions depending on its features: Europa, Confort, Rapsodie, top version Clima and special edition Campus. The car is Euro 2 compliant and some of the 2003 versions are even Euro 3 compliant.

Do you have any pics of the Dacia Solenza or some of the older models?
