In 1949 Bristol presented its second model (after the 400) and again it was fitted with the famous 6- cylinder BMW engine, that was built under license by Frazer-Nash. The 401 was a 5 seater coupe, with a Touring desgined body and built following the Supperleggera principles. Of the sedan 650 examples were produced, but the 402, the cabrio version is much rarer, with only 20 examples leaving the factory.
Finally the 403 had a much more powerful engine (86 against 107 BHP) and 281 of those were built.
