Alfa Romeo 1750/2000 Berlina
As a larger version of the Giulia, the 1750 appeared in 1967 and it quite a successful car. Built on a longer chassis than the Giulia it could really accommodated 4 persons in decent comfort.
Initially the 1750 (118 BHP) was the only version available, in 1970 the 2000 came to assist, and with 132 BHP on the tap, 190 kph could be reached.
The car never reached the cult status of the Giulia and only very few have survived, most of them fell victim to rust, the protection against which was a long time absent feature in any Italian made car. One of the survivors, a 2000, is shown here at the Belgium Zolder track in 2003
The production of the 1750 stopped in 1972 after almost 102,000 were made, while the 2000 went on until 1977, although the Alfetta, introduced in 1972, was the more popular choice. Almost 90,000 Duemilles finally saw the light.
