The Jaguar 420 was the filler between the S-type and the 420G. The hole between these two models was not very large actually, so the necessity of the model (basically a combination of the front end of the 420G and the rest of the S-type) was really questionable.
The standard (and only) engine was the well known 4.2 litre twin cam engine, which produced 245 BHP, allowing for a top speed of about 200 kph. The model could also be delivered as the Daimler Sovereign, badge engineering avant-la-lettre.
Production lasted from 1966 to 1968 (1969 for the Daimler) and 9801 Jaguars and 5829 Daimlers were produced.
