    Cadillac Coupe de Ville 1958

    Cadillac De Ville Coupe 1958

The 1958 version of the Coupe had even higher tailfins as its predecessor, and also power output had increased, from 300 to 310 SAE hp. The engine was still a 6 litre V8. Overall 1958 was a disappointing year for car sales, and sales of the ’58 Coupe were about one quarter less than those of the ‘57 model, of which 23800 units were made. The ‘58 made it to just over 18,400, and the outrageous ’59 model immediately moved the ’58 to oblivion.

Nevertheless it is still a very impressive car and of those is shown here at the 2004 Interclassics in Maastricht

Unlike the tidy SL behind it, the '58 Caddy represents a style of excessive extravagance. Very nice, but some older Cadillacs do it even better.
