    Alpine A110 GT4

The first version of the eternal A110 was actually a four seater and was presented in 1962 a year ahead of the Berlinette. The car allowed 4 persons to find a certain space even on the back seats.

It was also the first Alpine to be fitted with the new 1108 cc Renault engine, introduced in the R8. This engine could be easily tuned, and the five main bearings proved to be a real improvement over the Dauphine engine. Various stages of tuning could had, ranging from 44 to 95 BHP. With this sorts of power the light car became a hoot to drive and a top speed of 185 was possible. The 4 seat version was produced until 1965 and 112 were made.

Here is one at the Alpine meeting at the Zolder track in 2004.

i love the a110. even made an inspired car on a vw 1303 chassis when i found out what the prize of such a beauty is. it's cost me about 300euros thusfar, but the time spent is astronomical.

That is the new Alpine, the old A110 was a central aluminum chassis, not unlike the Lotus Elan.
