    Alpine A106

    Alpine A106

The A106 was the first car built by Jean Redele, a rallye driver and owner of a Renault workshop in Dieppe.
The car set the tone for all Alpines to come, with a fiberglass body and a Renault engine placed behind the rear axle. The A106 used the 747 cc engine of the Renault 4, which was tuned up to 43 BHP. With car weighing barely 500 kg, this turned out to be a very lively package.

A class win in 1956 in the Mille Miglia, gave the car its additional name: Mille Miles. Production lasted until 1961 and an estimated 150 were finally produced, some of which are still actively involved in historic motorsport, such as this one, which participated in the Tour Auto 2004.

The most beautiful Alpine. I like the car on netburner's pics the most. Pretty nose with no bumper looks much better than the sandard one.
