Fastest Jets

Does anyone know what the second fastest jet plane in the world is? As far as I know the SR-71 is numero uno with a publicly released speed of mach 3.3.

NASA is working on Ram Jets, but they don't exactly count as jets. Ram jets operate at exteme speeds a conventional jet engine would sputter out at.

Remember though, the real top speed of the SR-71 is still classified.

My Dad was in the army for 12 or so years (And still works with an Affiliated organisation) and has a fascination with The Space Program and X-Planes.

Trust me, I know far too much about it. More than I'd ever care to....
