Pi

I almost regret posting this, as I don't like spamming (if I could delete all the posts I made as a junior member I would) and I don't like being called a spammer, but I really find it interesting.

another testament to the dumbing down of science and engineering in schools

Not your fault, blame the idiots who run school systems who haven't a clue about the depth of science !!

I'm sadder, I only "memorised" it to 3.14159 as being sufficiently accurate for anything I'd ever want to use it for Pragmatist

In math class, we had a wall of around 2.2 by 6 meters, which was covered by PI in the numbers of around 5mm high

According to the second link, Pi day is on the 14th of March at 1:59PM. Why?
Pi=3.14159
(3.) March is the third month of the year (14) 12th of March (159) the time. The date and time are taken from the first few digits of Pi!
Lol my friend figured that out. I showed them all, I'm so proud of how much Pi I have.
Yesterday I was doing a quiz for a friend, and I decided to answer with Pi. I decided 3.1415926 was too short so I went in search of a little more. I found 974 digits. Today I searched more and now I have 1,000,040 digits, as seen here.

It's easy with computers
Back in the 15 century a Persian scholar worked PI out to 15 decimal places. To do it he had to estimate by using a polygon with over 800 MILLION SIDES. Pretty impressive with no calculator and limited paper

The "record" used to be 51 BILLION digits by two japanese mathemeticians in the late 90s.

Some GREAT trivia ( sorry guys, I'm sure there was stupidiy in all our nations, but this is the only one I got sent )

In 1897 a state House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill setting pi equal to 16/(sqrt 3), which approximately equals 9.2376. In which state of the United States did this occur?

A. California
B. Indiana
C. Massachusetts
D. Florida
E. Canada

Besides, the number was KNOWN to be approximately 3.1-3.2 for roughly THREE AND HALF THOUSAND YEARS !!!!!

for some reason, i find the fraction for Pi to be the easiest to remember, and i can work with it quite well, 22/7.

If Arnold was born back then, I would say A.
