I find it surprising it only has 2 engines.
Can you imagine the length of the Runway it needs to take off when its fully loaded?

Yeah, this plane is a bit strange. The only real application is to transport airplane fuselages (damaged, intact or whatnot) to their destinations.Or, it could be used to swallow loads whole either too abnormal in dimensions or too complicated to dismantle.

Designed to replace their modified Boeings in the 70s -- reputedly Boeing used to joke that "Every Airbus is delivered on the wings of a Boeing!" -- Belugas are used to transport Airbus wings from Filton to Toullouse. And other parts around the various Airbus factories.
Having designed and built the new Belugas they then made them available for commercial service when not moving Airbus parts. One was used to deliver to Hurricane Katrina victims !!!!

ive seen one at an airshow a few years back. there were a lot of fighter planes and some airline planes that flew around and this one looked like a UFO compared to the others. i was there at the last day of the airshow and i remember that i saw it take off after the show.
