^^^Well it probably would have been more profitable than the Veyron...But then again we might of not seen a car like the Veyron if this was produced...

Well they wouldnt have made money on this because of the fact not many people are going to buy a VW supercar.

Yes i know the Bugatti in theory is a VW but still the badge dictates the price tag, the best example i can think of is the Porsche SUV

Are you guys serious...the veyron owns this thing. Sure it's nice enough in the front but the rear of this thing is so fugly..i mean could they have gotten any lazier with it...Veyron would kill this...

IIRC, VW was going to have a hard-top as a VW supercar. I think it would have been about as big a success as the Phaeton... utterly pointless.

Whoever thinks that this car can "pwn" the Veyron needs a brain transplant.

420hp from a 12 cylinder is pretty poor, come to think of it

I think the Nardo was the "Coupe."

I'm a bit shocked this version wasn't included in GT4.

It wasn't in '98. Also, the weight can really affect the performance, but because that's not mentioned here, we can't really tell.

Don't forget 2 tons of weight.

Veyron is great, but this does look like the very early stage of the Veyron. This car is when VW started getting serious about W-engines. But of course, VW needed that new badge for it to sell. In the end, the Veyron wasn't meant for profit, it's just there to show off German engineering.

The original W12 was 1998. Lucky me managed to get close to it at the NEC that year

It's a convertible; GT4 on had few convertibles because of the processing power required for the driver in the cockpit. That is why the only open-topped cars in GT4 can only be driven alone. Having this variant of the W12 in GT4 would be next to pointless.
