From what I've found, only 5 were made. There's a thread in the hide-out which shows 2 of these.

i have a friend who is big into AMX's. he has 3 of them. well 2 AMX's and a javelin. 69 AMX with a 390, 70 javelin with a 360, and a 74 AMX with a 360 thats got a lot of work done to it and its fast! their all pretty nice rides and have been restored pretty well. decently fast too. you get a lot of looks in em cuz not a lot of people know about the AMC muscle cars.
    My rides:
    1999 Mustang GT

1974 Ford Country Squire (for sale!)

    1991 Jeep Cherokee

    1970 Shelby GT500

Eaarly editions of Javelin and AMX were and still are very attractive units imo, another stylish & classy Dick Teague design

Both coupe models were assembled here in low numbers from CKD kits, along with various AMC sedans etc. The marque was once a comparitively popular niche-import here, outselling Mercedes Benz eg. First-gen versions of Javelin/AMX featured a unique r/h/d dashboard, upspec trim & other detail variances. AMX was Australia's first locally-assembled car to break the $10,000 barrier

I like the Pacer as well, but that's probably because of Wayne's World.
