Wealthy Mercedes enthusiast puts SLR engine in an E-Class

If you’re a Mercedes fan, you’re probably familiar with the SLK-SLR engine swap commissioned by Dubai car collector Mohammed Ben Sulayem. He famously put an SLR engine into his white SLK55, turning it into an Enzo-killing rocket. Ben Sulayem is now working on a new project: putting an SLR engine into and E55!

You could have put this in the Euro forums really...
Are Mercedes-Mclaren supplying him with SLR engines or what? I doubt he's buying SLRs and leaving the carcass behind...

he could well be just buying SLRs, what would be the harm in that? Only a few hundred thousand burnt away.

Why settle for an SLR engine? He should try and get an F1 can engine... now that would be cool. Doubt if it would work, or survive long enough to enjoy, but hey.....

hmmm, any wrecked SLR's with stealable engines? i know a few ricers that would love them for their Peugeot 106's! But i i were him, i wouldnt do it to an E-Class, go for the S! then you have a comfortable car, and a bloody quick car (hmmm, why not combine them with a CLS-SLR? That would be something special!)

The E-Class is a comfortable car..like most Mercedes...excluding the A-Class that is.

Well i think the Slk was a pretty good idea, the E-class i think isn't worth it. Just get an E55 AMG no point in spending all that extra cash. The Slk has a nice hood and is distinguished, the E-class looks plain ugly

I seriosuly believe that cash isn't a problem here...why get an E-55? It's so ordinary...if you got the money then why not do soemthing like this?

Sounds like an engineering nightmare from my point of view. But then again, I don't know much about engineering. There's no point in putting an SLR engine into an SL. There's already the SL65 AMG. There's lots more potential in that.

exactly because its so ordinary... why have the flashiest car around when you can have an e-class that could burn any ferrari/porsche/lambo at the stoplight...? i wonder if this would kick the heck out of a brabus EV12

Why are you talking about the SL?
