AC Schnitzer Mini Cooper S Concept
Since the launch of the MINI by the BMW Group, it has had a firm place in the AC Schnitzer product range. So the AC Schnitzer engineers have decided to develop the potential of the MINI Cooper S further in a new project. The result is a MINI which combines what can be achieved on public roads and racetracks . To transfer the flair of the AC Schnitzer Cooper S Concept Car to other MINI vehicles, AC Schnitzer has used some of its road-approved components which are available from every BMW dealer.
Starting from the interior with Recaro bucket seats and new steering wheel position, the driving sensation is the same as in a race car . In addition, the new driver's seating position has a positive effect on the overall weight distribution of the vehicle.
To improve traction and steering, in collaboration with the company Drexler Motorsport a limited slip differential has been developed which exceeded all our expectations. The vehicle complete with racing suspension offers pure driving dynamics!
The power plant of the MINI Cooper S which uses compressor technology to deliver an impressive 125 kW / 170 HP as standard, has been given a clear power boost by AC Schnitzer on the basis of the Cooper S version by optimising the compression ratio and also modifying the control unit program . After the AC Schnitzer treatment, the 1.6 l engine develops a convincing 163 kW / 222 HP at 7200 rpm . In this form, the MINI Cooper S by AC Schnitzer sprints from 0 - 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds and achieves a top speed of 245 km/h .
To provide the necessary deceleration of the AC Schnitzer MINI Cooper S Concept Car, 4-pot fixed caliper brakes are fitted for excellent braking performance.
All components together have merged seamlessly into a "racing car" suitable for everyday use in which every kilometre driven is a pleasure.
