That'll make it worse, you'll effectively make it so youve got to spend more money to get anywhere, as teams like Toyota would be able to afford just making banzai engines that go back to how they were built in 2003

Who in their right minds would exclude Spa Francorchamps?
The organisers asked for Spa to be exclude, Bernie seemed rather intent on keeping it.

That's true, Toyota probably will just keep getting penalised on purpose. They sure have the funds to do it.

If the car has a fuel leak - too bad, thats a failure of the car to finish.
Correct me I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure a car is 'Black Flagged' for this.

Kooper, if you want qualifying to go back to what it was then WHY are you limiting the number of laps ?

They only used to get twelve laps anyway.

Used to be 2hr practice & qualifying session twice a day. Fastest time from any session fixed the grid position. NO lap limits.

Really? I too thought they were limited to a certain amount of laps in the good old days prior to 2003 (that's when they started tampering with the format I think).

No matter how it was, they should make it like it used to be pre-2003. That was almost as exciting to watch as the races themselves, for me at least. The highlight was watching Senna come out usually with only moments to spare, starting his final qualifying-lap just seconds before the time ran out and putting in a stonkingly fast lap, snatching pole. Pure racing art! But that's another story.

Nowadays they seem to change the quali on a yearly basis, which not only confuses the fans, but even irritate some.

"good old days" --- "prior to 2003" --- how to make a man feel old
2003 was only yesterday
I remembered THIS great article on the days of pre-qualifying and the mess IT created ...... http://www.grandprix.com/ft/ft00016.html

Hehe, you're right, it was just around the corner!

But the pace at which time flies these days, tommorrow it'll be 2029!

Someone told me the other day that by exactly this time last year it was still the 2nd of January. Cheesy joke for the day.

Read somewhere ages ago in some magazine, possibly motorsport news, that one of the proposals to make the racing better was to draw numbers from a hat, 1-22, and the number you drew was the car you drove according to the numbers on the cars obviously. Imagine that, Alonso drawing 22, and Ide drawing #1... me thinks car #1 would still be at the back of the pack, but possibly less than 4 seconds behind Sato-san(s talent).

How would that have worked out in the pitstops?

I can just imagine the different fuels being the start of everyones problems...

Wouldnt be surprised if an F1 engine would choke from the amount of dirt in the fuel the public gets
