Revell Mustang GT (2006)

I must say I was amazed with the quality of this model. The pieces practically fell together and this model has single-handedly renewed my faith in Revell models. The only problems were the atrociously poorly made rims and tyres and horrifically high ride height, which was fixed by switching to some Aoshima rims. The rims came chrome, but with a quick quote of Tamiya Smoke, they looked impeccably like nickel-stainless steel. A bit of camber and the job was done. (I must admit I forgot to do the rear side blinkers...d'oh)

I know what you mean about Revell. I picked up a Civic kit which is rife with detail.

The undercarraige in aluminum shows off the detail nicely but not accurate to production 'Stangs. Still, nicely done. The engine bay is very well done.

That wasn't the problem. The suspension would've left the car way too high off the ground, and the tyres were thick and detail-less;they looked like preschool toy car tyres.

nice build. the revell mustang just arrived in stock at my hobby store. one package was open, and i kinda didn't like that the kit wasn't molded in all white(unnessasary priming for the silver molded parts). Is it a improvement over your HW Mustang?

Absolutely. This kit was perfectly proportioned with no details wrong (save the rims, which can be fixed. I've seen people who've chopped the suspension and heated the A pillars to lower the whole thing just a bit and it looks beautiful). The fact that the whole thing wasn't molded in silver wasn't a problem, actually, I just had to double check that I painted black parts with flat black.

You should've seen the Mustangs racing at Road America.

i c. so the hotwheels version does suck. any tips on Revell's Corvette C6?

I finished the C6 about 2 monthes ago. Its pretty much the same about what Esperante said about the 'stang. The parts fit nicely, but those damn wheels.

I'm kinda new to modelling and would like to build a replica of my Vista Blue 06 GT. At the risk of boring you and the others with stupid newbie questions, where would I be able to find model paints that closely match the real thing? I would definitey settle for the great blue color you chose.

No, actually. It wasn't a Ford made Mustang race car. It was racing before the off the shelf race type was market available. This one was done from scratch.
