Did I miss something

Has anyone noticed that the VZ SS Commodore now comes with the L76 (6L V8)? I think it is strange that Holden didn't make a big deal about it. Not even a press release on the website. Maybe they will push it more in the VE.

Yeah they had the choice of putting the L76 in early or updating the LS1 for Euro3, and its obvious what choice theyve made. Youre right, theres been a surprisingly small amount of advertising about it, Holden seems more concerned with their SSZ runouts.

There's tons of ads for it in MOTOR and i'm sure Wheels as well, both MOTOR and Wheels have had articles on it, with MOTOR pulling a 5.76 0-100 IIRC on the banked circuit at Lang Lang

Almost tyring to hide it fr VE i think. There is real potential with this engine, Many in the U.S a creaming themselves about it. I think it's already been pumped to over 1000hp in the U.S.

It'd have the same potential as the LS2 by nature, theyre all Gen4 motors.

Could be because of how the L76 would be configured for more low and midrange torque than the LS2, although if you were willing to pump 1000hp out of either, you'd be changing alot of things that would affect that. So essentially, going for quadruple digit horsepower, youre just as well off with an L76 as you are with an LS2, just the '76 will probably cost a bit less as its not a performance type engine

I remember MOTOR saying that with the L76's torque curve, it must have more than 260kw, Holden's just been conservative so they don't really have to do anything and can just say that they've upped power for the VE with really doing it. I mean it's got a 90mm throttle, that's plenty of breathing power, imagine with a Harrop Hurricane on top

Holden always lies about engines power, Well they did with the V6 supercharge engine. 171kw they said, That never changed once over the 7 years from VT to VYII.
Wouldn't be surprised if the L76 is more like 275kw already. And keeping that down is the ULP not PULP.

Holden recommends 98RON for the L76 it's power output is quoted as 260kw running on 98RON

Most seem to think its 265kw, thats what it is in the US, and its not a case of Holden/HSV thinking one particular number looks better on the badge compared to another, as is the case with the Z series HSV's with the LS2.

As for the throttle body, 90mm should be plenty. Even GT's only have 75mm throttle body's, although that says more about FPV's methods of tuning really. 75mm's pathetic

My throttle body is 63mm V6 and I'm after a 70mm V8 style one

No choice in the matter the americans wernt going to tool the genIII up to euro 3 and holden refuses to tool the motors and will only receive them in crate form (same since 98) that said the GenIV in the guise is really detuned and atm doesnt have a huge aftermarket itll change quickly.

And very observent fpv manufactuors dont get excited about a new thing untill the old things goooooone

And shame on you fpv when tuned right the samller throttle body potentially could be more active.....higher in the rev range is another story doesnt help the very low revving cammer much though.

And also slick your wrong about the power figure on the supercharged lump it gained in VY series 1 with the edition of the "dampolator" (said as sarcastically as humaly possible) it gained 7kw and ill be f**ked if i could find where it was on holdens part finder im thinking its fictional and they added a slight retune the biggest favor for that motor would of been an intercooler and a cleaner set of heads....but that costs money.

And its common to get your old throttle body manchined slick a bloke at work had his done but then later found it needed to be dyno tuned...and this isnt a
mayby it ran worse and worked better when he put the old one back on sadly with 3 kids and a missus he didnt want to seperate with just in 4 figures to get his midly tuned vs on the dyno.....he kept the throttle body and is saveing up for a cam first

already has. Both Walkinshaw and PWR offer LS2 Blower kits and I doubt it'll be long before CAPA makes one as well as Vortech kit. The Harrop Hurricane fits the LS2. My dad's boss has an LS2 VZ Senator. Has an exhaust and intake and got it dyno tuned the other day. I can't remember exactly what it had at the rear's but he said about 400kw at the fly.
