Well, here is the Egg Nog test of my car. I got it close to a month ago. I still have to get the licence plates (tomorrow I hope). Some of you might have already seen pics in another thread of mine. For those who haven't here it is:

Basic specs:
2.0 Liter (115 hp)
6,300 rpm redline
5 speed manual
4 wheel discks (ABS)

Future mods:

Sport chip
Magnaflow exaust
High perf air filter
Sony X-Plod sound system (6 speakers + sub)
Perreli P-Zero tires
Brembo disks and pads
If I can find it either a turbo or supercharger kit.

The car had 77,000 km when I got it, so naturaly, I had to fix a few things:

New OEM disks and pads all around. Too early for the Brembos
Shock absorbers all 4 corners
New suspention bushings
New clutch
Tune up
Changed all the fluids including the tranny fluid.

That's it so far. The car is in excelent shape. A few people have asked me if it's a 2006. They're surprised when I tell them it's a 2001.

Well, it's not quite an Egg Nog, as I (as usual) forgot, but here's me with my mum's MG-F overlooking the Loir valley in France (and that is spelled correctly - Le Loir is not to be confused with La Loire, fifty or so miles to the south). She lent it to me to go to Le Mans after my Lotus sprung a leak in the fuel system...

For the record, I quite liked the car. Bizarrely enough, it was quite a head-turner in France - not sure why as they're ten a penny in the UK - must not see many little open-top sportscars. Performance-wise, it's fairly sprightly off the mark, actually, but has very little grunt left on the French hills after about 85mph. On a hot, dry day it is glued to the road. On a cold, wet day it is a death trap - the tires are as wide as the ones on my dad's V12 XJ-S, so the aqua-planing potential is horrific. And it twitches alarmingly in changing wind conditions on the motorway (e.g. passing a large truck, going over a viaduct, etc.) which was uncomfortable. Oh, and to quote a chap from the Jaguar Enthusiast's Club, "I used to have one of those - the one thing I remember is the rattles!" Indeed. Everything rattles!!

So, all in all, not a great car, but then I wasn't expecting one, and it is a lot of fun. You can't beat having the wind in your hair!

Cheers,

G

Looking great. I prefer the rear without the spoiler, but that's not an ugly one. It doesn't spoil either. Thankfuly and oddly, although having the wood handbrake and gearlever, the gorgeous Nardi wheel is in leather. I've heard the wood ones are not very comfortable.
The NB 2.5 is probably the best MX-5 ever (NC included), so I hope you'll keep it for long. Congrats on it.
I'll Egg Nog mine one of this days.

Thanks guys!

McReis, I probably wouldn't have added the spoiler myself but it came equipped like that from the factory and now I prefer it to not having one. The NB have a small upturned lip on the trunk lid, which to me looks a little funny, this small spoiler actually gives the rear a cleaner, NA-type look.

The shift knob and handbrake lever are the only alterations on the car, apart from the leather, shift knob and handbrake boots. I got the Nardi shift knob to match the Nardi wheel and the wooden handbrake grip is from Moss Motors. They sell a lot of things to spoil a perfectly good MX-5...
