Will they offer to change the transmission to a manual? The only thing that's ever truly turned me off about Jags is that they're automatic only, well at least here in Canada. Would be great if Arden could do away with that.

They are automatic here as well, except for the 6 cylinder S-Types amd the X-Type. And in my opinion it's rather strange and annoying because some of their cars seem to be compelling drivers cars.

Yea, that's what I find so frustrating. Great cars with performance should be offered in standard as well. Wouldn't this have lost them quite a few potential customers that are more performance oriented?

A couple years ago there was an XKR at the Mercedes dealership in my area, and a salesman was nice enough to give me the keys and let me rev the engine (I was only 16 at the time). It was a phenomenal car and I dreamt about it for many nights after that, but the one thing that always made me look back to 911s was that it lacked that standard.

I agree that a manual XKR would've been sublime (remember that XKR-R concept made by Jaguar some years ago), but still an old XKR is one of my very favourite cars despite the auto 'box. It's a true rock n' roll car if you know what I mean, especially the later ones with the big BBS wheels...

I totally agree. Automatic transmissions sucks.

I think I'd definately go with the BBS wheels from the previous XKR, but as for a manual, I'd like one, but the auto in this shifts in 100ms, which is pretty damn good.

Automatics are getting better and better in performance cars. A friend of ours who recently got a new G35 coupe with an auto said that he could never imagine being able to shift faster manualy than the automatic does it. He was originally going for the standard model, but they didn't have one and for some reason he needed the car right away, so that's what he went with and he's actually happier.

I think it's more the "feel" of involving yourself with the car. Those manual paddle shift things came out a while ago but still people want a manual.

You're absolutely right, a classic standard makes you more at one with the car.

Spot on spi, it's all about the involvement, I don't care if I can shave a few tenths in every change, it's not like I'm racing anyone and I prefer to enjoy my car.
