UK spec sr20det

I'm building a nissan S14 sr20det engined track car here in the UK, I'm on a tight budget and wonder if I can save money buy obtaining parts in the US,
( the exchage rate re:dollar v sterling is quite good at present).
My first question is are the parts compatible ie: is the US sr20det motor the same as that in the UK ? Secondly (assuming that the parts are the same) what advice would forum users give as to the parts required to build a streetable motor with between 300-350 ATW bhp , (the car is stripped down and will weigh around 950Kg) so ultimate power is not required due to the relitively low weight, I' particullarly interested in cams/valve train as the sticks in mine are quite badly worn and very expensive here in the Uk
Any help would be appreciated cheers

The US did not have the SR20det, it did not pass their regulations, they had the KA24 in their silvias.

How's the Yen/Pound exchange rate? why not go just to the source of the parts?

the problem with importing parts is the import duty, my brother lives in Boston so I can have them posted to him in the US then he can ship them to the UK as a gift this way I avoid the dreaded import duty.

That probably won't work, it seems like and easy scam and customs aren't stupid. Japanese parts imported to America won't be any cheaper than Japanese parts imported to Britain, they'll all be priced relitive to the desired profits in Yen.

The thing with customs is a supplier as to make on the package the value of the contents ie: new cams $500 inport duty is chaged on that figure, if the item is a classed as a family gift the package would be discribed as used car parts gift to family and any value can be given, this gets around the duty on new parts. My brother as moved loads items between himself and his girlfriend (now wife) before he moved over to the states he never had a problem.

I don't think you understand, the parts in America will cost only slightly less than those in Britain, the savings won't make up the cost of shipping heavy engine parts.
