Ford lauched a new site, www.fordboldmoves.com...

They are basically filming their meetings with Mark fields and putting them into episodes for the public to see. The first is labelled "Change or Die" - Which was Mark Fields' message to Japan when he took over Mazda lol... IMO its a pretty cool idea.

No offense but since when has Ford been known for bold moves anyway?

And the link didn't work for me either.

For me neither...it must be part of the bold moves campaign.

Make them search for it, it'll build extra mystique...

That ad campaign doesnt do as good of a job as it should anyways, what does a father and son in a parking lot driving the car in a straight line have to do with bold moves?

and it'd be better if the ford product line all the way through shown bold moves.

No, it's a Ferrari 250 GT Lusso. And by the way Ford doesn't do bold moves. Focus Mk II anyone?

they weren't even sure they had a market for these cars yet they went ahead anyway

The mustang was a very bold move. Ford made the car look retro which no other car manfucter did. Also the T-Bird it was a pretty bold move also for bringing a car back that clashed with the corvette back.

i think it was not as bold as you think, maybe partly bold. Relying on old designs that they knew everyone liked is not as bold as making a new one all together. So in that way it wasnt really too bold. partially yes b/c it is a different time. But just look at porsche, classic styling is just classic styling.

However, i dont think we should make the mistake thinking that Ford has to make risky decisions to be bold. You can have bold styling, even bold sales and so forth. I think the whole bold thing is used to try and install character into what has become a lifeless company, so instead of making the bold risky moves, they need to make efforts to make the cars feel like they are full of a bold character. Which i think you are right, the mustang is one of the only, if not the only car in fords current lineup that has a bold character.

Maybe back then, but the later T-Bird was absolutely murdered by every Corvette alive.

Ford doesn't make bold moves? How about the original GT? Ferrari pussed out of the deal at the last second, then Ford made the GT and owned the Le Mans Racing Series for nearly a decade. The ultimate middle finger.
