New Camera!

Well finally I got rid of the old lame Kodak and kicked it up a notch. I got my Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D) yesterday, and I absolutely love it. Now I just need to get some lenses, filters, tripod, and so on. Here are a couple quick pictures I took today, haven't had a lot of time to try it out what with work and all.

Well I really like the Rebel, and I don't have a problem with the grip at all (a primary complaint). I'm not sure what deals are going on the Rebel elsewhere, but up here in Toronto I got it for $899.99 cdn, good sale.

I've also heard good things about the Nikon D50. And if you're looking for something not quite SLR "prosumer" perhaps, the Sony DSC-H1 is excellent too.

I've considered the rebel(i can get it for about 650 from where i work), I'm also considered the 30D. I have the canon S2 IS, so I'm definetly looking for an slr to upgrade to.

PS, Canons only

Yeah I love Canons, Rebel is a great choice, and the 30D even better. Either way you can't go wrong.

Johnny loathes Nikon, with no apparent reason, as other than at very High ISO's, they're better and more affordable that Canons.

I have the H1, and while it's an awesome camera, I've been dreaming of an SLR since a week after I bought it...

Nice buy, I wish you can get out of kitlens land soon. My trip to Montreal saw enough people trying to shoot F1 car with their brand new Rebel XT or 30Ds but using the same crappy kitles....

Nice camera. What lens did you take with it? EF 18-55?

Going by the EXIF, yes it was the kit lens.

Is it a trendy thing to do these days, buy a 350D/Rebel XT?

They're like iPods now, not the best or the cheapest, by a long shot, but everyone buys them

Yeah the Kodak was actually pretty decent, served me well; but it's ageing and I really like the Canon Rebel. So call me trendy, but I'm happy I got it. And yes, it is the EFS 18-55mm lens I've been using.

Anyway, I think I'll use this thread to post photos I take, so here are some of today's from my local Canada Day celebrations. The sparkler/name one is blurry but I love the shot itself, damn AF couldn't find the focus in the dark...
