The RM series was already introduced in 1945, just after the war and it was one of first real new post-war models, with a separate body fitted to a rolling chassis, but with some nice features such as torsion bars, rather than the traditional leaf spings and hydraulic brakes.
The Riley RMC was introduced in 1948 as an open version of the RMB. The car had the same four cylinder engine (2443 cc) and was delivered as a three seater roadster, specially designed for the export market. Production lasted until 1950 and only 507 examples were made. The RMD version was a true four-seater cabriolet, which made it up to 1951, but skipped the 500 production mark by just two cars…
Performance was brisk, and the cars could reach 100 mph.
Shown is a nice RMC, which attended the club meeting at the LeMans Classic in 2006.
