    They were committed to GroupB program and when it closed they didnt' really have a competitive car for the lesser forumulas.
    They had also moved into IMSA racing with the Audi 100 and 200 and later the touring cars as a better vehicle for showing their technology and increasing interest in their car range to the buying public.
    After IMSA and TC they made the big investment in GT and Le Mans.
    For as long as they believe these latter formulae are givng htem the exposure they want for the car range sales grow solidly then they'll likely stay.
    EVery manufacturer goes through these cycles where they switch racing formats to try to be WINNER rather than also-rans.

    That's so much more work than normal. I'd have to split your posts off into a whole other thread and then merge that thread with the other one. It's far fewer steps for you to just delete these posts and repost them in the other thread - especially when it's visible on the same page right now.
