Hennessey Viper Venom 800R

October 29th, Las Vegas - One of the more straightforward SEMA cars is this Hennessey Viper Venom which uses cubic displacement to maximum advantage. Punched out to nearly ten liters, the new 800R has a 585 CID upgrade which is good for 810 bhp and 810 ft lbs of torque.

Unlike Hennessey?s 1000 bhp Venoms, this one is normally aspirated, but can reach almost the same levels of performance: 0 - 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, top speed over 230 mph and a 1/4 mile time of 10.88 @ 136 mph when tested on Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires.

These incredible figures are possible due to an extensive engine tuning program that takes Hennessey just over twelve weeks to perform. From the crankshaft up, every aspect of the motor is reworked, resulting in something almost entirely new. Air enters through a cold air induction system, to reported heads, gets compressed by new forged pistons and exits through a big bore custom header and exhaust system. At 5500 rpm, you can bet this swallows about five times the normal amount of fuel.

Also included on the bright yellow show car is Hennessey?s now signature Viper SRT Coupe body kit which includes a ?VenomAero? front bumper and rear ?Daytona? spoiler.

The Official debut of the 800R will take place on the Dupont stand at 10 am on Tuesday, October 31 at the SEMA Auto Show.

Awesome, but the thing is who's going to buy it? Hennessey doesn't exactly have a good reputation with Viper owners, and will we actually see it hit 230Mph?

Still, being normall aspirated and hitting the same figures is pretty amazing.

It's wild, but it never thinks about everyday usability.

I don't see why not? It may not be the most practical car on the road. But as long as it doesn't overheat in rush hour traffic, you could drive it every day to and from work.

Sweetness. Hotness. Totally radical, just like everything Hennessey creates.

Twelve weeks is also the amount of time it takes him to sell your motor to someone else, ignore your phone calls, and not put parts on your car.

Everyone > Hennessey.

The Viper could be bearable. The Hennessey is a car that would need new rear tires at every stoplight. Nuff said.

Not really, it just shows that the turbos haven't got traction to match power.
And I have no idea why it takes 12 weeks.

Oh I forgot, in that twelve weeks he can also slip in some drunk posting on internet forums when people trash him.
