Honda Integra Type-R vs. VW Corrado VR6

In light of the recent GT contest, this one sparked off in my head. Both are reputed to have two of the best FWD chassis' ever made, both are coupés and both are relatively sporty- but that's where the similarities end...

Corrado VR6:-
- 2.9 VR6
- 190bhp
- 0-60 in 6.4 secs
- 145mph
- 1240kg
- 15.1 secs/95mph 1/4 mile
- 29.9mpg

Honda Integra Type-R:-
- 1.8 4-cyl VTEC
- 187bhp
- 0-60 in 6.2 secs
- 143mph
- 1160kg
- 14.8 sec/96mph 1/4 mile
- 32.1mpg

the integra for me, as since the performance of these two is similar it comes down to looks, reliability and mileage, all of which the honda wins imo

edit: also i can't imagine a VW being as hardcore and focused as a DC2 ITR

It it were purely for shits and giggles I'd take the Integra; lighter, similarly powerful engine, brilliant chassis.

But if it was gonna be my everyday car I'd have to go for the VW; more comfy, far more subtle, and still decent performance and handling to boot. The Integra's probably just a bit too hardcore as an everyday car.

My guitar teacher uses the Integra for an everyday car, he likes it a lot... says it's a bit loud though!

I like the VR6 a lot, and also love the Type-R the thing is, it was really hard for me to decide between the cars in the end I chose the VR6... bit more luxury... but I'd have the Integra for track days

Corrado for me, I have always liked the styling of it, it would be nice if Volkswagen would bring it back

Integra by default. The Corrado's becoming a bit of a chav's dreamcar these days. Finding a bog-standard one is near enough impossible.

It was a tough one... but I think the rarity value of the VR6 did it for me. There's a mint one just down the road, drives every day. Man it's gorgeous!

I hate the blinged-up ones.

VDub fa sho, it's a little more practical day to day and I dislike the having to rev the living piss out of an engine to reach the powerband. Not only that, the VW confers a touch of class on the owner, whereas the Acura feels like it's something you should grow out of by your mid-20's.

You can park the Corrado on the street and not have to worry about it driving off during the night.

I love ITR's, but unless I had a house with a garage and a badass security system, I'd never own one. Same with B5 Audi S4's...
