There's a lot of factors, but this one I'd never thought of.

Rollout defined: The concept relates directly to NHRA dragstrips and the measurement methods used in quarter mile racing. For the unfamiliar, this is how it works. When you pull into the staging area or starting line, there are two light beams which are aimed perpendicular to the track. The first light beam is the "pre-staging" light. It has no real function except for telling you when you're getting close to the starting line. The 2nd light beam, called the "stage" beam, is the actual starting line.

This means that British, German, or Japanese magazines will clock times that are 0.3 seconds slower than US magazines for the same car as they time true 0-60 and true quarter mile times. They use no rollout.

Thus further proving- the 1.8T can nevAr lose.

This is also true for GPS-based devices such as Correvits, VBoxs, DriftBoxs etc. they use no rollout and start timing the moment car moves. Most aussie mags use these devices, not drag strip timing, and I'm pretty sure the same goes for Euro and Jap mags

true, but only when a car isn't automatic and has enough torque to slip the tires.

Fortunately most of the interesting high performance cars have plenty of torque and a manual transmission.

Don't forget about the lunar cycle! When the moon is towards the front of the car it will pull it forwards but when the moon is behind the car it slows it down.

Does this mean we can jump higher at night, since the moon is overhead and reducing the earth's pull?

It does mean you can jump higher, seriously. you also weigh less. if you can get high enough precision measuring instruments you could measure the difference.

so if I have grasped this right, rollout basically mans that you don't start timiing until the car has reached a predetermined point, even if the car has already started moving??

surely 0-60 means just that. zero to sixty

No.
This is what happens when your at a track:
You pull up to the tree, once you cross the first beam the very top yellow light goes on. You scoot up a couple inches to hit the next beam, the second yellow light turns on and now the tree is activated. Your timed from the very moment you leave that second beam.
There is no "secret" here, its drag racing, nothing new.
