Geneva: Cadillac BLS Wagon

Cadillac recently presented the estate-version of it's smallest saloon, called the BLS Wagon. like its sedan-brother it's based on the saab 9-3 and build in sweden and got's the same engines taken out of gm-store. perhaps both the saloon and the wagon will get 4wd, like the saab will in summer 07 with its other modifications.

what do you think of it? is it still worth the name cadillac?

When the BLS came out, I was thinking whether Saab 9-3 was still worth it's name rather than the other way.

Looking at the sideline in the first pic, it does quite remind me of the 9-3 wagon, the roofline especially.

with the exception of the roof rails, i think it looks rather nice. i am excited to see the CTS Estate, which i saw an "artist impression" of in a recent car mag which i can;t recall right now.

Look at it this way...

No of course it isn't worth the Cadillac badge... it's way too good for them...

Personally styling wise I don't think it's catastrophically bad. Then again I'd rather have the Saab...

That is indeed a better way to put it...

Styling wise I like the new Cadillacs too, they have an easily recognisable common look that seems to fit surprisingly well in a Saab body.

In a way I hope that the next mid-size Caddies will be based on the upcoming Saab 9-5 too, only to ensure it won't be vice versa.

Station wagon Cadillac's where always hearses in my mind, so I don't know how to express my feelings toward this concept. It looks alright, not good however... I would gladly take the Saab instead.

There's a good reason for that - the roof, A-pillars windscreen and probably the side windows are carried straight over, a few new panels here, a few there...

Considering Cadillacs reputation within Europe - i.e., for either being rubbish, thanks to the old STS, and the CTS is doing a fine job of keeping it up by all accounts, or for being pimp-my-footballer's-wife-tastic tasteless tat-peddlars, I'd stick firmly with the 9-3 out of the two, and preferably the straight saloon, but it would still be a way down the list.

Yes, I knew that, and I think that the doors are the same too, excluding the handles. Some way the wheels remind me of Saab too (not the chrome finish), though they're probably not a direct copy.

Is the BLS popular?

Considering it's basically called the 'Cadillac Bullshit,' I think the badge still has power to attract buyers with a strong sense of irony.
