Rate Your Car
I don't think this kind of survey has been done.
Borrowing the idea from Car & Driver (the older issues), I thought it would be interesting to rate the cars we own on different items. I figure that (hopefully) the 0-10 scale is most familiar (0 being poor; 10 being excellent). I own three cars, so I won't rate them all at the same time. And I'm trying to be fair... I didn't give a whole bunch of "10s". If anything, I may be too critical in rating a few of the items. So if anyone wants to jump in and rate their car(s), go ahead! Anyway, here are my ratings for one of my cars to start with: 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, 4-door 6-passenger sedan. Styling (which is hard to rate, since it varies from person to person): -------------------------- 9 Engine: Starting------------------- 9 Response/acceleration----- 8 Fuel mileage--------------- 4 Noise---------------------- 8 Vibration------------------- 8 Drivetrain: Shift smoothness----------- 9 Transmission controls------- 8 Brakes: Response------------------- 7 Pedal pressure-------------- 8 Smoothness---------------- 9 Directional stability---------- 8 Fade resistance------------- 7 Steering: Response------------------- 7 Accuracy------------------- 7 Feedback------------------- 6 Road feel------------------- 4 Suspension: Ride comfort---------------- 9 Harshness control----------- 9 Roll stiffness---------------- 7 Tracking-------------------- 9 Pitch control---------------- 7 Shock damping-------------- 7 Controls: Location-------------------- 8 Relationship----------------- 8 Small controls--------------- 8 Instrument comprehensiveness-- 9 Instrument legibility---------- 8 Interior: Visibility--------------------- 7 Instrumentation-------------- 6 Lighting---------------------- 7 Entry/exit-------------------- 10 Storage space---------------- 7 Wind noise-------------------- 9 Road noise-------------------- 9 Weather protection: Ventilation-------------------- 9 Weather sealing--------------- 8 Windshield wiper action-------- 8 Heater/defroster/air cond.----- 9 Quality control: Materials, exterior-------------- 8 Interior------------------------ 9 Exterior finish------------------- 8 Interior finish------------------- 9 Hardware and trim-------------- 8 Sheet metal-------------------- 9 Paint--------------------------- 9 Chrome------------------------- 10 Upholstery---------------------- 9 Padding------------------------- 9 General: Service accessibility------------ 8 Bumper protection-------------- 10 Exterior lighting----------------- 8 Resistance to crosswinds-------- 9 Luggage space------------------ 10 Comfort: Steering wheel position---------- 9 Shoulder room, front------------- 9 Rear---------------------------- 9 Hip room, front------------------- 9 Rear---------------------------- 9 Leg room, front------------------ 9 Rear---------------------------- 9 Headroom front/rear-------------- 8/8 Seat design---------------------- 9

With minor adjustments and some tinkering you get a much better vehicle. The only downside is the stability and sensitiveness to crosswinds on the highway. It is really demanding to drive and after an hour or 4 you are absolutely knackered because you have to keep adjusting it's path. Last edited by drakkie; 04-21-2007 at 12:25 AM. |

drakkie, at least yours has some 9s and 10s.
I wonder if I should have had an overall rating listed? Well, I guess I can always modify the list.

That's because these properties really deserve it.. The tracking is excellent, i've let go of the steering wheel at high speed (170km/h) and it keeps on going straight out without a problem. You just don't want to know where it goes when there is wind..
![]() The best mileage I got (1l / 20km) is pretty damn good. The average for normal driving is about 1l / 17or18 km's, which is better than most cars out there ! For what I expected (not much) it is a damn neat car. |

I just liked how it looks. Given unlimited fundings, I'd take this A4 bodyshell, tug in an Alfa Romeo 156 interior, throw in Toyota's 2.0 VVTi-L and turbo charged it and a 6 speed manual shift from Altezza (previous IS) TO HELL WITH ZF TRANSMISSION AND CRAPPY VAG 1.8T
