X360: Windows Media Center

For those of you who have a decent home theater setup, this maight be interesting. Now you can connect to Windows Media Center via your X360. For those of you who have never used Media Center, it basically allows you to watch TV (if you have a TV tuner card), listen to music, watch movies, etc. just like Windows Media Player except it has a much more user-friendly interface. With this new feature you don't have to set up a PC to your home theater system but instead use a X360 to access it with only an internet cable. Looks very promising.

Since it won't let me copy and paste I just summarized what I saw, the site's here with video introduction and tutorial: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/w...ediacenter.htm

Then of course you'd need Vista......Home Premium and Ultimate only.

I tried doing this sort of thing one or two months ago but I needed a wireless connection to my laptop, which I'm not shelling out $100 bucks for.

You can just connect your laptop to your router if you have one.

No Vista anymore for me, so it's a moot point.

I noticed the tidbit about connecting the internet cable in the summary, but at the time when I tried (I think it was a couple of months ago like I mentioned), there was only a wireless option I think.

Hasn't this been possible since the 360 came out? Or is that something else.
I have always had the Media Center icon on my dashboard, the only thing that stopped me from connecting it in the past is the lack of an actual network in my house.

That's what I was referring to in the posts above. I know my laptop picked up the wireless signal from my neighbor's XBOX at Uni for WMP but I never carried through with connecting mine.

You don't have to have Vista either. XP works just fine.

All you need is a network and the little software update from the windows website. Should work then. I wish my Dad would get round to buying a network card for the main PC, then i can acces my vast supply of music via the seXBOX 3sexy.
