    CD-Panhard LM64 Prototype

I don't have much info about this one, nor the pictures are of ultra hi-res. But I thought the car was interesting and that it deserved a place in the hideout.

Basically it's the car that Charles Deustch entered in the 1964 24h of Le Mans. It's based on Panhard mechanicals which basically means a 848cc flat twin and front wheel drive I believe.

that was later, the 1964 model was still equipped with a Panhard engine.

now called CD (Charles Deutsch) because the previous year DB (Rene Bonnet and Charles Deutsch) split up.

The body buck shot above is amazing. EDIT: If the pics below aren't copasetic, please advise and I'll delete the post.

From the seller's advertisment: "This car is one of two race cars built for the 1964 "24 Hours of Le Mans" by Charles Deutsch and his Team, in cooperation with Panhard for the engine. This was the very last official Panhard prototype race car; it was also the very first attempt to use the "ground effect" to stabilise a racing car at high speed and increase its road-holding.

This car, chassis #001 retired after 14 hours (lasting longer than #002).

After the race it was used by Michelin for high speed tire tests, then belonged to an important collector in Bretagne (France).

This important car has been carefully restored by EPAF - a specualised Team composed of former Matra and Alpine race engineers and technicians - and is now in full racing condition, absolutely authentic and incredibly rare, with only two CD LM64 ever built.

This rare prototype was displayed at the Paris Retromobile 2009 Classic Motorshow, and at the 2010 Chares Deutsch Retrospective in Avignon. Sold with spare parts. More information and Classic Cars on the Autodrome Paris website: AUTODROME Specialiste Lamborghini Ferrari Pagani Maserati achat vente automobiles classiques, sportives et de collection "

Photos below from Anamera... check the last two. Can you imagine driving this in traffic?!?
