The Latest drop top turbo!!!

There are going to be two versions of the drop-top 911 coming out in the next few months. Both of these upcoming models will feature visual cues and the four-wheel-drive system of the Carrera 4S with the soft-top. The highlight of all this news though, is the fact that Porsche is resurrecting the drop-top turbo, which stopped production back in 1989

Pushing power from the 911 Turbo Cabriolet comes from the same twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder found in the hardtop. The engine pushes out the same 420 horses, which is put to the wheels with a five-speed tiptronic gearbox.

With the extra weight that the Cabriolet will add, sources say that it will only take a swift 4.4 seconds to go from 0-60 and top out at about 180 mph.

would die to have one of these

there have been test done on its structural rigity because the turbo has blistering performance so there could be problems with high speed stablity - i'll still take the coupe though - prefer the styling that way

no when the turbo was first proposed as a convertible porsche had problems with the high speed stability with the hood down - hopefully they have corrected it
