Amazing Challenged Drifter

Ok, thinks its tough to drift, try being a paraplegic and drifting....This guy is very impressive and amazing and I love the way the car is set up...I always liked the Toyota Cresta as a drift car and this guy is just sooo amazing at what he can do.

I don't like drifting, but if you are impressed by this guy (impressive, true), take a look at what Alex Zanardi and his two wooden legs can do in the WTCC championship.
by this I'm saying two things: racing is more difficult then drifting, and that Zanardi is required, by the rules, to jump out of the car in 5 seconds (IIRC), something I saw personally 4 years ago at Imola (I) ETCC races. that was impressive.
Still, the guy of the video have my appreciation.

This is way off topic, but I was just reading about Zanardi and he is a freaking champion - he's won races using only hand throttle, he finished 4th in a handcycle marathon in New York, holy crap.

What is the mechanism does he use to control throttle and brakes? I looked for pictures but failed.

The throttle is a spring-loaded ring attached to the steering wheel a few inches behind the rim of the wheel. He squeezes it toward him to open the throttle, releases it close it. Similar to the gear shift mechanism on WRC cars from a few years back.

With regards to braking I believe he still uses the brake pedal, albeit somewhat modified. Obviously he uses his specially developed prosthetic legs on the pedal. It's pretty remarkable that he still manages to get the required level of finesse on the brake pedal without having feet or lower legs.

I think the clutch is operated by a finger switch on the gear lever.

There are plenty of hi-res photos in the gallery section of his official site - Alex Zanardi - The official website
