Thanks. Yes, isn´t the record breaking 40CV awesome. Maybe not beautiful, but surely impressive. With its 9 litre straight six it broke the endurance speed record (24 hours) with an average speed of just over 173 kph. The year was 1926 !

A lot of Renault's "heritage" in the 50s, 60s and 70s came from tuners and smaller specialists utilising the engine.

Those large stroke engines of early days are really fascinating. Like a Mors 20 liter V4! Thanks for sharing these pictures by the way

Thats true, but I guess they saw the potential in the Renault engines. (Especially the Sierra engine maybe.)

It might be interesting to note that the red car in #1 pic 1 is the mexican built Dinalpin. Observe the Renault 4 tail lights.
