I saw a helicopter circling overhead and drove over to see.
Not much to see from the street because there were flares and a lot of police cars blocking off the area.
But I remembered there is a sidestreet which leads up to a hill. So I drove over there and walked across the hill so I could look down at the accident scene.

It was pretty bad. A four-vehicle accident; it was a head-on collision with at least two of the cars. The two who were killed were in the white Volvo on the sidewalk.

That is one of the most horrible accidents I have ever seen. He must have been going fast as hell to do that to a Volvo. My heart goes out to those who lost their lives.

Neither, this was a rigged test with the cars pulled by wire at 40mph each.
Saw this episode.
Excellent evidence proving what's been covered many times in the past in these forums ...... that a modern crash-zone/passenger cell design is better than lots of big bits of steel !!!

No, no, no, I meant the real crash. What's Ironic is that I was at a friends house the other day and his Dad said "...that's why I bought Tracy the 960, small cars are inheritantly dangerous. the Volvo is so much safer..." I think after seeing that test he may wish to reconsider...

What was your money on by the way? Mine was on the Modus, but I had no idea that Volvo would deform quite like that!!

The car in the middle of the street caused the accident. It crossed over the double yellow line into the opposite lanes and collided with the Volvo. The Volvo hit the other two cars before coming to rest on the sidewalk.
According to the news, "speed was a factor."
It is easy to speed on that portion of the road because it is wide and it is in between cross streets.
