Bugatti Veyron Centenaire Edition 2009

this seems as another (no, you didn't) version of the Veyron.
Don't get fouled, this isn't the Blue Centenaire unveiled at Geneva a couple of months ago.
Even being similar, thise version is supposed to be declined in four variants after the name of four famous Bugatti drivers, and painted in their own national historic racing colors, who raced with the iconic Type 35.

Here is the list of th drivers with the respective color:

Jean-Pierre Wimille & Bleu France,
Achille Varzi & Rosso Corsa,
Malcolm Campbell & British Racing Green and
Hermann Zu Leiningen & Deutsches Rennweiss

The cars are going to feature some aluminum-finished parts a la Pur Sang, and the same LED lamps from the Blue Centenaire and the Gran Sport variants.

Price, 1.6 M €

for more info, here, Spanish and here, Italian

wondering if it shares parts with the Mustang too

For your €1,600,000 do you perhaps get a Type 35?
That'd be the only way it'd be even close to being worth it.

Silly special edition again, but it'll make them a quick $10m US so I suppose it's not too bad in a business sense.

The Veyron has become somewhat of a gimmick. Not that it already was, this is just to the extreme.

they are still loosing millions on each car.

I don't understand how people could still want to buy this car, especially in these silly iterations.

Don't know where I read it, but a folk over the internet said "the most exclusive version of the Veyron is the standard one". he is probably right.

I like the Veyron and I've liked almost all of the special editions, but this is getting ridiculous.

By the way: the blue one.

What the hell is the point of Bugatti if it loses money? Who okayed this? Does it at all raise brand awareness for Porsche (VW) Group? Does it do anything good at all from a business perspective? Is not a super exclusive car good enough to not have multiple versions?

The car itself may well be fantastic, but I really question the business angle of this venture.

Leon you say they are losing millions per car - that sounds like an exaggeration to me, is it not?

rumors (never confirmed obviously) said each car costs about 4/5 Millions €, depending on sources.
that's because of the massive development, issues raised during the 6 years of testing, redesigning and everything going wrong and the manufacturing itself.
So, if even a 4 M € is correct, they would loose more than 2 M per each car.

Why to carry on?

With all the hype VW raised, with all the claims, the figures promised on so on, how could you step back?
At the end with a fast calculation it would mean that the "Veyron project" costed about 300*4= 1.2 Billions € over 6 years. Sounds sensed after all.

There's no bussiness angle with the Veyron project. It had to crack 400km/h and that's about it.

They just used the Buggati badge because it was probably easier to sell them as Bugattis than a Volkswagen ÜberCorrado R80 Mega Turbo.

Which is a shame.

True, but the more examples they sell, the less they lose overall per sale. If they sold something like 1,000 more then they would start seeing a profit. Not that this figure is true or that will happen but you should know what I'm getting at.

Absolutely right.

I'm not sure these cars are additional to the prevented 300 units though.
Since they were so happy to say how many Veyrons they sold until they got to the last release saying they had sold 220 of them, I would say these are the last efforts to sell them all.
The Gran Sport should be out of the 300 on its own btw.

The funny thing is that there are brands, such as Ferrari or Alfa Romeo with color scheme named after famous circuits or plants and such. they are the usual colors you can have, and you pay say something additional only on a few cases (without considering extra series colors).
Bugatti on the other, while still naming every color scheme accordingly to its history, pretends the cars are different and asks an additional price worth a 997 GT3RS.
