BMW S 1000 RR Motorcycle
There's a new prick in the litrebike dick wagging contest to fight the GSX-R1000, YZF-R1, ZX-10, CBR1000RR, (and sorta 1198?) and it's rocking a white and blue roundel.
Boasting 193 hp @ 13,000 rpm, and 82.5 lb.-ft. at 9,750 rpm, weighing in at 455.3 pounds wet with a full tank of gas, affixed with anti-lock brakes and traction control and you have what may be the most impressive package of the bunch. The price is targeted to be within 10% of the Japanese litrebikes so this could be competitive. I am getting more into bikes and I think this is a pretty sweet ride. Press Release below. Quote:

the asymetrical headlights are a bit weird, but otherwise it is a very nice looking bike.

Yeah, I can't say that the headlights look right at all.
Any reason for that weirdness? |

looks like it's got a monocle, very cool none the less
i'm guessing the asymmetrical headlamp is meant to differentiate BMW from other brands like audi's hugely ugly grill or acura's power plenum |

I agree with comments about headlights. Why are they like that?

Japan should be scared......very scared...... I don't mind the headlights either, BMW's signature is individuality.

The car uses the non-driven wheel's speed as reference, on a bike on hard acceleration the front wheel speed can be zero....

The front being in the air isn't the issue (wheelie control can deal with that), it's when both are on their sides. As the bike leans over, the rolling radius changes and the wheels start spinning at different rates. Also they've gotta allow a bit of slip at the rear, particularly on the thou's.

But the dynamic of the bikes wants the front be in the air when accelerating, you are doing 100% weight transfer and you get traction. But you need to still control that without wheel spin.....I did some reading I guess in MotoGP they use GPS beacon to get relative ground speed when the front wheel is off the ground...I'd think they wouldn't do that on a road bike...
