f6fhellcat, it's possibly why his Google search failed. Really, he started a thread for this?

Well he did ask and automotive question on an automotive thread. Plus you can't expect everyone to know that answer.

Nissan was not bought out by Renault. Nissan owns about 60 % of Renault, and Renault owns about 40% of Nissan. Its an "alliance" and not a "buy out" or a "merger" or an "acquisition". Alliances are rare in the business world, and terribly difficult to undertake and/or maintain.

Actually Nissan owns 15% of Renault and Renault 44,3% of Nissan so it's closer to a Renault takeover, altough it isn't so. In the late 90's Nissan was suffering severe financial problems and Renault basically came to rescue.

I think you numbers are more accurate. Nonetheless, the term "alliance" is significant in their business operations.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Milky Way Galaxy, Universe.
Prince Motor Co. used to own Nissan until Nissan became independent. Then, they came out with their awesome Infiniti brand.
