It's really only a matter of time until some poser slaps a couple prancing horse badges on there and starts telling people who don't know any better that it's an Enzo.

I think this is another case of very rich dudes/enthusiasts which are in the restoring and amateur racing and try to create their own car for the sake of it. Faralli & Mazzanti comes to mind as well, they are in the business since 2006, never saw a car which wasn't one of their own two show cars.
