Nice to look at... and from what i can see, the drivetrain won't be a weak, either. I'm still waiting for Peugeot's take. Looks like the next season of LM will be very interesting.

I'd have prefer old cars and more competitors then new rockets sort of each year and only Pug and Audi fighting for top honor. Let's hope Aston's car will be up to the task.
Look wise, I find it rather unpleasant. Today I was looking at the R10, the Pug 908 and the BMW V12 LMR, among others. The BMW was definitely the better looking, but I still think Group C cars were even better looking. Pointless when you're talking about racing cars, still...

Plain carbon looks cool the first time, but race car needs their war paint to look finished....
Its an interesting car, it reminds me of a Russian sub for some reason...

It looks a bit "chintzy" for a racecar in my opinion. I'm a bit irritated with Audi's fascination with headlights, most likely not helped by certain rivals copying for all they're worth, not to mention the aftermarket LED imitation light strips the ricer set is having a blast with at the moment.
Still, it will probably at the very least contend for top honors. Again. I'm really hoping Aston decides to ape Audi's headlights and have their new car's headlights display "007" in LEDs instead of the "1" form of this car, just for the giggles. And happy 2011 everyone. |

The R18 looks absolutely amazing, far more radical than any previous Audi LMP car. It looks like something from a far more advanced planet than earth with those LEDs and aerodynamics. Every year the rules for diesels at Le Mans get stricter and stricter yet the manufacturers always seem to be a step ahead. It will be really interesting to see how quick the R18 will be in comparison to the R10 and R15. That output of 149bhp per litre is amazing for a diesel. It's only 40bhp down on the R15 despite having lost 4 cylinders and 1800cc of displacement, which is mind boggling. I wonder what the torque figure is? The ACO hasn't wanted cars to be capable of anything faster than 3.30 for about 4 years now... It doesn't look like they're going to get their wishes in 2011 either. We haven't even seen Peugeot's effort yet, I can't wait till June when I'll plunk myself down on the couch and switch on Eurosport for about 18 out of 24 hours.
